High Expectations in Action

After reading article five from the Marshall Memo, please respond to the prompt below.

In the article entitled Principal Leadership, by professor Neal Cross (2008), “Cross suggests some indicators of high expectations that principals might look for in classrooms: Teachers explicitly state their expectations for student achievement. Teachers give equal time to low and high achieving students. Teacher are explicit about the relationship between effort and achievement.  Teachers convey a powerful three part message.”

What is your reaction to the reading? What do you believe we can do as educational leaders to foster an academic environment where teachers convey and maintain high expectations for student outcomes? Do you believe that this is sustainable?
